Born on the water, driven by community
What started as one guide's birthday wish on the Lower Colorado River evolved into Central Texas's largest annual volunteer water cleanup.
Where it began.
It all began on Alvin Dedeaux's birthday in the winter of 2018. As a man who has everything he could ever want in life, all he wanted was to pick up trash off of his favorite water, the beautiful Colorado River.
That day the LoCo Trash Bash was born! With some very generous sponsors, and a lot of selfless volunteers who love the river as much as Alvin does, the LoCo Trash Bash to date has extracted over 65 TONS of trash from the river and banks of the Colorado River!
Powered by passion for Texas waters
The LoCo Trash Bash is made possible through dedicated local stewardship and non-profit organization.
All Water Guides
All Water Guides is a fly fishing guide service located in Austin, Texas. All Water Guides is owned and operated by Alvin and Lenée Dedeaux and the LoCo Trash Bash is their yearly stewardship project to give back to the resources that support their business.
All Water Guides offers fly fishing trips year round in Central Texas area and the middle Texas coast.
Cleanup the Colorado
Cleanup the Colorado is a non-profit started by John Erskine in 2018 specifically to address the massive amounts of trash in the Colorado River in the first 40 miles below Austin between the HWY 183 Montopolis Bridge to the Utley Bridge.
John Erskine is a guide with All Water Guides and works closely with Alvin and Lenée Dedeaux of All Water Guides to bring awareness and much needed attention to the illegal dumping on the Colorado River.
How you can support the bash
Whether you're getting out on the water, donating equipment, or spreading the word, every bit of support keeps the Colorado River clean.
Volunteer.
Volunteer support on event day is the single most effective way to give. Consider bringing a work or school group, or counting this toward your Day of Service requirement. We need volunteers for both the cleanup and the after-party!
Sign Up To Volunteer →Cash.
Financial support helps offset the hard costs of holding the cleanup that cannot be donated—such as event insurance, cleanup supplies, food, and live entertainment at the after-party. Your contribution fills the gaps!
Become A Sponsor →Equipment.
Equipment support such as trash grabbers, shovels, rakes, gloves, and hand sanitizer are welcomed and needed. Large trash trailers are especially vital. Leave us a note when signing up so we can coordinate!
Offer Equipment →Donate.
Sponsor products ("swag") for after-party gift bags reward our volunteers' hard work. Hats, t-shirts, stickers, and koozies are greatly appreciated and welcome (please, no single-use plastic items!).
Donate Swag →Lead.
Section Leaders (on the water) and Site Leaders (on the banks) help administer checkpoints throughout the day to keep all volunteers safe and accounted for. Check the leadership box when you sign up!
Become A Leader →Share.
Help us spread the word and raise awareness on Instagram, Facebook, and social media. Feel free to repost any social media content from All Water Guides and Cleanup the Colorado!
